China has abundant natural gas resources, and in recent years, natural gas vehicles have experienced rapid development. As of the end of 2018, the number of natural gas vehicles in China reached 6.7 million, an increase of 620000 compared to the same period last year, with a growth rate of 10.20%, ranking first in the world for five consecutive years. In the exhaust emissions of natural gas vehicles, conventional pollutants are mainly NMHC, NOx, and CO, while unconventional pollutants are mainly methane (CH4), of which CH4 accounts for over 90% of the total HC and is the main greenhouse gas. China is also the largest producer and user of motorcycles, with motorcycle ownership accounting for nearly 50% of the global total. As of the end of 2018, the total number of motorcycles in China reached 87 million, an increase of 5 million from 82 million in 2017, with a growth rate of 6%, ranking first in the world. From the characteristics of exhaust PM2.5 emissions, both natural gas vehicles and motorcycles emit PM2.5 particles smaller than
In response to the urgent need for motor vehicle pollution control, the national key research and development program "Research on the Causes and Control Technologies of Air Pollution" has deployed research projects on pollution emission control technologies and systems for diesel vehicles, gasoline vehicles, alternative fuel vehicles, and motorcycles. The research on pollution emission control technologies and systems for alternative fuel vehicles and motorcycles is led by Zhongzi Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., which has strong research and development capabilities in natural gas and motorcycle catalyst technology in China. In collaboration with more than ten units including Sichuan University, Wuhan University of Technology, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., Weichai Power Co., Ltd., the aim is to develop and establish new synthetic principles and technologies for key high-performance rare earth catalytic materials and efficient stable catalysts that meet the National VI and IV standards for alternative fuel vehicles and motorcycles. This will form a reliable integrated technology for natural gas vehicle and motorcycle pollution emission control after treatment systems and promote their application, supporting the reduction of motor vehicle pollution in China. After three years of operation, the project has made significant progress through the joint efforts of all participating units
Representative Achievements
1. Breakthrough in high-temperature stability of key basic catalytic materials
The key basic catalyst materials have overcome the problem of high temperature stability of materials, and successfully developed high-temperature resistant high specific surface area alumina material technology and high thermal stability rare earth oxygen storage material technology that are necessary for pollution emission control catalysts for China VI natural gas vehicles and China IV motorcycles. Aluminum oxide material at 1100 ° C/5 h, with a specific surface area of 111 m2/g; Rare earth oxygen storage material at 1000 ° C/4 h, with a specific surface area of 52 m2/g.
2. Motorcycle catalysts and post-treatment systems meet the National IV emission standards and are now being supplied in bulk
Based on material technology that breaks through high-temperature stability, combined with the application of developed specialized CZA composite functional materials, and using techniques such as precious metal precursor modulation, coating surfactants, and layered segmentation, a motorcycle catalyst that meets the National IV standard has been successfully developed. As of October 2019, a total of 17 motorcycles have passed the national professional testing agency's inspection and meet the National IV standard.
3. Natural automotive catalysts and post-treatment systems meet the national VI emission standards and are supplied in bulk
Based on material technology that breaks through high-temperature stability, the National VI natural gas vehicle catalyst is prepared using technologies and processes such as dual solvent method, reduction method, and multi-layer coating. Compared with similar products from international suppliers, the comprehensive performance ranks at the international leading level. 8 heavy-duty gas engines (accounting for over 60%) and 36 light-duty vehicles have been matched and tested for emissions by national professional institutions at Tianjin Automotive Testing Center/Xiangyang Automotive Testing Center, meeting the National VI standard. This product began to be installed on Beijing buses in October last year, with over 400 units installed. Real time monitoring data shows that NOx emissions are stable. After the implementation of the National VI Regulation on July 1st this year, the product has started to be supplied in large quantities, with sales revenue exceeding 400-500 million yuan.
2、 Main technological innovation points
Innovation point 1: Successfully researched and developed rare earth composite nano oxygen storage material technology composed of different types of rare earth nanocrystals and composite nano alumina material technology stabilized by rare earth, alkaline earth, etc., solving the high temperature stability of materials. Compared with similar foreign technologies, the material performance has reached the international advanced level.
Innovation point 2: Developed natural gas vehicle catalyst technology and motorcycle catalyst technology that simultaneously have low temperature, high activity, high durability, wide air-fuel ratio window, and efficient synergistic conversion of multiple pollutants, with internationally leading catalyst cost-effectiveness.
